I have sworn off bags with double open zippers favoring one with double close zippers which are inherently safer. I took the insert out of my old backpack and put it into the PD 20 v2. The origami folders hold it in place on both sides and bottom. My camera and three lenses fit tightly and are deeper into the bag than the standard layout allows.

The Panasonic Lumix S5II launched the second generation of Panasonic’s full-frame mirrorless camera system and was the first Panasonic to feature phase detect autofocus. As our review reveals, it’s a heck of an all-around camera for both still and video shooters. Trying to get your hands on the Fujifilm X100VI Limited Edition? This backpack is loaded with features that you won’t find anywhere else—which really puts it in a league of its own. So “strap” yourselves in, this is going to be a long “haul.” Okay, we’ll stop with the backpack puns, but in all seriousness, this is a long review—we could talk about this thing for hours. I agree with the reviewer that photography bags can be more structured objects than a quality day-hiking bag - but that doesn't mean they have to feel like a shoebox with shoulder straps. There are many examples of bags that better address the issue of comfort and fit and take a more realistic approach to equipment protection. We’ve been testing the Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L (V2) around Detroit, Michigan for the last three weeks as both a camera bag and an everyday carry backpack.

An overloaded bag is an ungainly thing, and even the Everyday Backpack struggles to make the bulk look good. The ultra-wide handle at the top of the bag ended up being super useful for me. It's one of those things where when you're grabbing your bag up off the ground, it's just that much easier to snatch it up since you've got a bigger target. It's a nice touch when you're heading out the door or quickly shifting from location to location. I didn't find the side handles as immediately useful, though I can see the use-case for them.

Sling bag perfectly sized for light everyday and photo carry. Sleek backpack-tote hybrid for active everyday and photo carry. Every bag in the Peak Design Everyday Backpack range is a well-designed “one bag fits most” creation. The removal of the waist strap and the small interior pockets made for a bit of getting used to, but the added comfort and the improved MagLatch help to balance that out.

Depending on how the weight is distributed inside the Everyday Backpack V2, it’ll always sit upright when placed on the ground – albeit while doing a rather odd front tilt. It isn’t the lightest bag and I suppose that comes with the territory of it containing a vast amount of features and premium materials. One of the most common critiques I read about the Everyday Backpack when I was first researching my initial purchase was the weight. The Everyday Backpack V2 comes equipped with three of Peak Design’s FlexFold dividers which allow for a convenient and customised interior storage solution. The Everyday Backpack V2 is a great looking bag for any occasion. Since it has remained relatively unchanged for a few years now and is still a worldwide success, it was only a matter of time before Peak Design ventured out and gave it a fresh update.

Hiking I have a hiking bag with nice back vent, the kata bumblee does, but not as good. The old katas are still good, so no need to replace them. Currently I am using a camera messenger bag I got in Japan. The Everyday Backpack V2 is designed not to just be a camera bag, but to also be a fantastic bag for everyday carry and a highly functional travel companion.

These are great for the usual bottle or umbrella carry, but can also be utilised for tripod carry as well. I’ve found that the 20L Everyday Backpack V2 is best suited to my body size and everyday carry requirements. Agree a trampoline mesh back could transform it into a better load-hauler (judging just from the photos and specs) and will require a structured hip belt to get the load off the shoulders. This one would at least benefit from ventilated open-cell back padding and a removeable webbing waist belt.

When you’ve got what you need, simply pull that loop below the desired rung and let the magnets do the rest. Plus, if you find yourself waiting in the airport lobby or stuck on a long bus ride, it’s great to fiddle with. Speaking of the back panel, it’s decently padded and will help with airflow to some degree.

I've done a lot of hiking with a Decathlon Quechua MH500 backpack and it's superior to any camera backpack I've used or seen when it comes to features and comfort. Other brands make similar bags that are also better choices than a camera bag. To lug around camera equipment, I feel like there is better (and cheaper!) options. I put a camera cube at teh very top, with acces to my lenses using the top flap, everything kept tidy. And I use the lower sections for my camera bodies and larger lenses, accessories in the side pockets. In its stock form, there is some room for improvements.

Rugged mountable phone case for maximum protection. Extra Capture clip for expanding your carry options or building a custom setup. Spare Anchor connectors for additional cameras and devices.

We think most people will get the best use out of this bag as an everyday carry backpack or paired with a smaller piece of luggage, or Peak Design’s duffle. The stretchy mesh drop pocket has two divider pockets made from the same material—which feels soft and strong. This pocket is a good place to stash your phone, wallet, keys, and any tech accessories that you carry on the daily.

You can use it clamped on the shoulders straps, but the metal back plate then rubs right into your chest as you hike. It's too bad those two tan tabs on the shoulder straps aren't lower down, they would be perfect for a capture clip if they were. I had the v1 30L for some years and I recently got the more compact v2 20L. I use them both quite often and I find their internal design and side access very useful. In my experience, the only issue is that under medium or heavy rain water can infiltrate through the zippers.
